Admission Requirements

Foundation course

Students may be required to take a 3 credit hour Foundations course based on a holistic review of the application and supporting documents with special consideration of undergraduate major, GPA and relevant work experience. Students will be notified of their course sequence at the time of admission.

Transcripts

Please submit official transcripts from the college/university in which a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution was obtained.

  • Applicants who have graduated from SUU do not need to submit a transcript

    Get a head start by studying your coursework

    For the MBA – Healthcare Administration Emphasis online, you must complete 24 credit hours of core courses, including a capstone strategy course, and 9 credit hours of emphasis courses. Students may be required to take a 3 credit Foundation course in the first term based on a holistic review of the application and supporting documents with special consideration of undergraduate major, GPA and relevant work experience. Students will be notified of their course sequence at the time of admission.

    This course provides an accelerated overview of the basic fundamentals of accounting, finance, marketing and the use of Excel that MBA students will require for success in the program. If you are required to take this course, it must be taken first and cannot be taken at the same time as another course.

    This course examines the principles of organizational behavior involved in managing people and organizations in a business environment. Topics include leadership, motivation, effective teams, conflict and negotiations, power and influence, organizational culture, and change management. This course focuses on the practical application of these principles in a meaningful and ethical manner. FIXED FIRST COURSE for all MBA STUDENTS unless you are required to take BA 6000. If BA 6000 is required, you will receive a course sequence from your academic advisor.

    The management of operations and supply chain, including such topics as competitive strategy, product and service design, quality management, process improvements, supply chain management, work design management, logistics, and selected areas of operations research.     The purpose of the course is to enable students to prepare themselves to become leaders of organizations and to embark on paths of personal leadership development. The course requires personal curiosity and reflection from students as well as personal openness and sharing in class discussions. Leadership development concepts used in the course will be immediately applicable for students and useful for the rest of their lives.     This course reviews the development and use of management accounting information systems in planning and control activities. Using case studies of actual companies, its focus is on new management accounting practices adopted by the innovative companies around the world.

    This course examines the capital budgeting process, including estimating the cost of capital and cash flows, correct application of decision rules, and ways of analyzing and dealing with uncertainty in your forecasts. It also discusses key topics in financial management, such as optimal leverage, raising capital for the firm, and equity payout policies.     This course is the capstone course for the MBA, and as such, it will integrate the methods and tools developed in the curriculum to solve the strategic positioning and management issues of the organization.     Students must take the three following courses for the MBA Healthcare Administration program.

    This course provides a foundation in Healthcare Administration. The course introduces the student to the structure and functions of the U.S. Health Care System. Topics to be covered include an overview of the U.S. Health Care System (private and public sectors), the interface between Public Health and U.S. Health Care System, various health care delivery structures, health care workforce, health care resources, types of health services, financing of health services and health care coverage, meeting the health care needs of special populations, and critical issues in health services.

    Through this course students will explore advanced principles and techniques related to healthcare accounting and financial management. The primary objective of this course is for students to be able to apply administrative/managerial knowledge and the related accounting/financial theory and techniques within today’s healthcare marketplace.

    This course will examine the interrelated changes in healthcare administration, ethical and legal expectations, and the organization of health care and health policy over the last century. The ways that leaders in healthcare organizations adapt to and challenge public policies throughout the policymaking process, the consequences of this behavior for the administration, services, staffing, inter-organizational linkages, and the impact on health and practice, research, and education.
