Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 2.5 GPA
  • No GMAT required

Foundation course

Students may be required to take a 3 credit hour Foundations course based on a holistic review of the application and supporting documents with special consideration of undergraduate major, GPA and relevant work experience. Students will be notified of their course sequence at the time of admission.

Transcripts

Please submit official transcripts from the college/university in which a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree from an accredited institution was obtained.

  • Transcript Assist - We can help you obtain your transcript at no cost! Simply give us permission by filling out the Transcript Assist form in your application. Once your application is submitted, we’ll request your transcript and notify you when it arrives. Please note that we only request the transcript for your highest earned degree. We can obtain transcripts from institutions that are part of the Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse networks, which includes most schools. Check their websites to see if your college is a member. If your institution is not affiliated, you’ll need to submit your transcript to SUU yourself.
  • Applicants who have graduated from SUU do not need to submit a transcript
  • International transcripts must include a transcript evaluation from a third-party service such as The Evaluation Company (TEC) or WES showing that the degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree

For the finance certificate online, you must complete 15 credit hours. Students may be eligible to waive the 3 credit hour Business Foundations course in the first term based on a holistic review of their application and supporting documents with special consideration of undergraduate major, GPA and relevant work experience. Students will be notified of their course sequence at the time of admission.

This accelerated and condensed course covers the essential concepts of Business Statistics, Microsoft Excel, Financial and Managerial Accounting and Corporate Finance that are necessary for success in subsequent graduate level business administration courses.

ACCT 6100 is a prerequisite for FIN 6100.  FIN 6100 is a prerequsite for FIN 6400 and FIN 6750.  Courses should be taken in the order listed below for the shortest program completion time.

This course reviews the development and use of management accounting information systems in planning and control activities. Using case studies of actual companies, its focus is on new management accounting practices adopted by the innovative companies around the world.

This course examines the capital budgeting process, including estimating the cost of capital and cash flows, correct application of decision rules, and ways of analyzing and dealing with uncertainty in your forecasts. It also discusses key topics in financial management, such as optimal leverage, raising capital for the firm, and equity payout policies. Prerequisite(s): BA 6000 or advisor permission - Prerequisite Min. Grade: C-

This course provides students with an understanding of the financial tools used in creating, running, and valuing entrepreneurial enterprises. It includes an overview of the entrepreneurial process, including different organizational structures, financing sources, and the value of intellectual property protections. The course also covers the valuation techniques commonly used by professional investors, and examines how investors, particularly private equity sources, select projects for investment. Students will learn to use common financial ratios and cash flow projections to analyze the liquidity and profitability of the firm. A semester-long project will help students apply these techniques and ideas. Prerequisite(s): FIN 6100 - Prerequisite Min. Grade: C-

This class serves as an introduction to commonly traded assets, as well as the markets on which they trade. For each major asset class, we learn common valuation approaches, as well as the theories used to estimate appropriate discount rates. Applied projects are used to illustrate the type of mathematical analysis used by investment professionals. Prerequisite(s): FIN 6100 or MBA Director permission
