Admission requirements for the M.S. in Cybersecurity with Information Assurance – Healthcare Administration Emphasis:

  • No GRE required
  • Submit graduate application
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution*

*A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required. Students with a bachelor’s degree in a different field must have one of the following:

    • Two (2) years of related Cybersecurity/IT work experience as noted in the application form
    • Certifications (if applicable) may also be submitted: Submit copies of security-related certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security +; Certified Information Systems Security Professional-CISSP; Certified Ethical Hacker-CEH; Certified Cloud Security Professional-CCSP; and Certified Information Systems Auditor-CISA)

Applicants who do not meet the above criteria may be required to complete an interview with the program director.

For the M.S. in Cybersecurity with Information Assurance – Healthcare Administration Emphasis online, you must complete 30 total credit hours. This is comprised of 15 credit hours of required core coursework, 12 credit hours of emphasis elective courses, and 3 credit hours of your choice of completing a capstone/internship or elective course.

CSIA 6000 must be taken in the first session - it can be taken concurrently with other courses.

This course will provide a foundation of cyber security and information assurance concepts. **Fixed First Course for the MS-CSIA programs.**

This course introduces student to the concepts and principles of network security. Students will gain experience in many security technologies that will enable them to apply the security concepts and principles in order to secure networks. Prerequisite(s): CSIA 6000 or program director permission.

This course will explore the security techniques and fundamentals involved in minimizing critical infrastructure security risks, including how to respond when security has been breached. It introduces students to concepts such as securing Web Clients, servers, and communications. It also investigates the use of firewalls, digital certificates, and legal issues.

This course provides students with a basic knowledge in cyber crime investigation and also study case law in relation to data breach litigation. Students will research emerging legislation set forth by state and federal governments relating to cyber crime.

This course addresses various risks and compliance needed to manage and/or minimize security breaches. It uses different frameworks and case studies as a platform to identify vulnerabilities, assess real business risks, and review different security compliance mechanism and governance programs that fit today's business environment.

This accelerated and condensed course covers the essential concepts of Business Statistics, Microsoft Excel, Financial and Managerial Accounting and Corporate Finance that are necessary for success in subsequent graduate level business administration courses.

This course provides a foundation in Healthcare Administration. The course introduces the student to the structure and functions of the U.S. Health Care System. Topics to be covered include an overview of the U.S. Health Care System (private and public sectors), the interface between Public Health and U.S. Health Care System, various health care delivery structures, health care workforce, health care resources, types of health services, financing of health services and health care coverage, meeting the health care needs of special populations, and critical issues in health services.

This course will examine the interrelated changes in healthcare administration, ethical and legal expectations, and the organization of health care and health policy over the last century. The ways that leaders in healthcare organizations adapt to and challenge public policies throughout the policymaking process, the consequences of this behavior for the administration, services, staffing, inter-organizational linkages, and the impact on health and practice, research, and education.

This course will focus on how nurse leaders in all practice areas can act to create safe forums for ethical discussion, reasoning, and influence. Students will develop knowledge and skills to help lead healthcare organizations to ensure a positive ethical practice environment. Biomedical ethical principles that influence population health outcomes and health equity will be examined.

This course will examine the role of nurse leaders in developing and influencing the adoption of innovative strategies to improve population outcomes. Students will learn to apply systems change theories for planning, implementing, and evaluating strategically planned change. Nursing informatics is essential to facilitating interprofessional data-driven organizational change. Students will develop an understanding in the use of patient- and population-based data applications that inform and support the transformation of nursing care delivery toward a future of value-based quality nursing care that improves health outcomes, reduces costs, and ensures health equity. Prerequisite(s): NURS 6110 - Prerequisite Min. Grade: B-. Registration Restriction(s): Master of Science in Nursing students only

Students will choose one of the following course options.  For the Capstone/Internship option, students will take three (3) one-credit courses that should all be taken within the same semester.
