Foundation course

Students may be required to take a 3 credit hour Foundations course based on a holistic review of the application and supporting documents with special consideration of undergraduate major, GPA and relevant work experience. Students will be notified of their course sequence at the time of admission.

For the MBA – General Emphasis online, you must complete 24 credit hours of core courses, including a capstone strategy course, and 9 credit hours of emphasis courses. Students may be required to take a 3 credit Foundation course in the first term based on a holistic review of the application and supporting documents with special consideration of undergraduate major, GPA and relevant work experience. This accelerated and condensed course covers the essential concepts of Business Statistics, Microsoft Excel, Financial and Managerial Accounting and Corporate Finance that are necessary for success in subsequent graduate level business administration courses.

This course examines the principles of organizational behavior involved in managing people and organizations in a business environment. Topics include leadership, motivation, effective teams, conflict and negotiations, power and influence, organizational culture, and change management. This class serves as an introduction to commonly traded assets, as well as the markets on which they trade. For each major asset class, we learn common valuation approaches, as well as the theories used to estimate appropriate discount rates. This course provides students with an understanding of the financial tools used in creating, running, and valuing entrepreneurial enterprises. It includes an overview of the entrepreneurial process, including different organizational structures, financing sources, and the value of intellectual property protections. The course also covers the valuation techniques commonly used by professional investors, and examines how investors, particularly private equity sources, select projects for investment. Students will learn to use common financial ratios and cash flow projections to analyze the liquidity and profitability of the firm. In this course, students explore project management with an applied approach through case studies, simulations, and class exercises. This course includes the concepts of Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and Crew Resource Management (CRM). Provides a discussion of the human factors involved in aviation including an exploration of the interactions between people and their work environment and between fellow workers and crew members. Includes relevant topics from basic learning theory, human heuristics and biases, aviation safety, aviation accident investigations, and aviation education and training. Surveys the study of human behavior as it relates to the aviator’s adaption to the flight environment including function allocation between human and machine, human-computer interface, work environment, person-to-person communications, performance measurement, supervision of crew members, accountability, role management, crew communications, teamwork, leadership, followership, decision-making, and situational awareness.
